New Mexico has always been a special place for Lucchese. With our factory in El Paso, as far west in Texas as possible, visiting our neighboring state has been an integral part of Lucchese life. Santa Fe and its surrounding areas have been a source of inspiration for us and we wanted to embrace that in our newest collection. We’ve pulled together a few of our favorite places and things in Santa Fe for your next trip to the Land of Enchantment.
Mortenson Silver & Saddles
Clint Mortenson owns and operates Mortenson Silver & Saddles in Santa Fe. Since 1989, he has been in the business of designing and creating quality trophy buckles and custom saddles. His ranch just south of the city is also home to silver and saddle workshop where he tools and engraves all his pieces.
Santa Fe Indian Market
Every third weekend of August, Santa Fe is inundated with artists gathering to show and share their work. The Santa Fe Indian Market is the largest juried Native arts show in the world, bringing together nearly a thousand artists from hundreds of recognized tribes. The weeklong festival is a celebration of Native art featuring fashion shows, gallery displays, and sales.
Only 60 miles from the heart of Santa Fe, Ghost Ranch sits in the red dirt formations on the edge of the Carson National Forest. The ranch and its surrounding formations have provided inspiration to fine artists, most notably Geogia O’Keeffe, and fashion designers alike. The rich history of the ranch has included dinosaurs, Navajos, Spaniards, cattle rustlers, artists, film crews, and visitors.
Visit Ghost Ranch for the day or plan an overnight stay. The ranch offers horseback rides with their experienced wranglers, extensive hiking trails, yoga, and guided tours of the land.
Shiprock Santa Fe
Our neighbor on the historic Plaza, Shiprock Santa Fe is rooted in the rich artistry of the Native American culture of the tribes of the Southwest. The gallery carries Navajo blankets and rugs, Native American jewelry and sculptures made by a selection of leading Native American artists. Merging the classic Native pieces with a modern aesthetic are contemporary home furnishings and decor.
Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail
Northern New Mexico is known for its use of chiles in nearly every dish. The green chile in particular is used as a sauce on everything from breakfast burritos to stew to the now iconic green chile cheeseburger. The specialty burger even has its own trail through the state. Make a stop in Santa Fe at some of the top picks for a burger, such as Santa Fe Bite, The Shed, or Atrisco Café & Bar.
Lucchese Santa Fe
Since 1994, Lucchese has had a retail presence in the City Different. Our location on the historic Santa Fe Plaza offers our current Limited Release styles in addition to a large selection of styles from our Classics line. Also, our Santa Fe store carries apparel and accessories from top designers and artists. Shop from a selection of our in-stock styles or design a pair of one-of-a-kind custom boots.
