The Seventh Chukker Lounge of the International Polo Club was the scene of Thursday evening’s draw for the season’s third 20-goal tournament, the Ylvisaker Cup.The Seventh Chukker Lounge of the International Polo Club was the scene of Thursday evening’s draw for the season’s third 20-goal tournament, the Ylvisaker Cup. The trophy was named in honor of the late Bill Ylvisaker, the former Chairman of the United States Polo Association and the man who was responsible for bringing polo to Wellington.
Fourteen teams will be competing in the tournament that will follow the Joe Barry memorial Cup with the final slated to be played on Sunday February 24.
Joining Audi, Coca-Cola, Crab Orchard, ERG, Faraway Polo, Lechuza Caracas, Lucchese, Orchard Hill, Piaget, Valiente and Zacara will be an 18-goal Port Mayaca team of Robert Orthwein, Carlucho Arellano, Mariano Obregon and Stevie Orthwein. A realigned Vila Del Lago foursome will find 2-goaler Jared Zenni replacing his father in a lineup that will include Magoo Laprida, Agustin Obregon and Guille Aguero. La Herradura will be retiring from the field following its appearance in the finals of the Bobby Barry Cup on Sunday at noon.
With players and teams gathering in a social setting that offered food and drink, an outside fire pit amid the wishful jockeying of positions, the draw took place with the results listed below:
